As the largest Democracy in the world, India has always been conscious of the rights and freedom of other countries. And it so happened that India fought a historic battle against Pakistan which had launched a brutal genocidal campaign against East Pakistan, 49 years ago, and had forcibly occupied it. On 16th December,1979 India defeated Pakistan and liberated East Pakistan, paving the way for the formation of Bangladesh, with Dhaka as its capital. Students of all grades celebrated Vijay Diwas on 16th December, as this victorious day is christened, by making Posters, showcasing PPTs and with lucid speeches on the significance of this day and the reasons for the celebration. An interesting quiz proved to be the highlight of the day! They recalled and paid homage to 2nd Lt. Arun Khetarpal, who managed to nearly single handedly destroy multiple Pakistani tanks, leading India to a famous military victory. They saluted him and rejoiced that Khetarpal was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his supreme courage!
